Christine Mendez LoPiano originally from the Bronx, moved to Long Island when she was 9 years old. Her love of singing began when she was in 2nd grade, when her teacher Ms. Serlin, gave her the lead singing role in their small end of the year production. She really built her confidence to begin what would be a life long passion for singing. She grew up in Central Islip, Long Island and there, she was noticed by her then chorus teacher and began taking singing lessons in fourth grade. She sang Soprano throughout her school career, and was part of the SCEMA chorus and sang a solo one year for that. In High School she was part of Long Island blues boy scout music division and toured with them for a few years. She sang with them at the World's fair in 1988 in New Orleans. She sang with the Suffolk Community College Choir and one of their gigs was singing backup to Rosemary Clooney and Andy Williams Christmas show at Westbury Theatre. Christine also toured with University of South Florida chorus directed by Robert Summer. Christine then began her singing as a cantor at St. Peter the Apostle church in Islip Terrace, where she sang at various masses and for weddings. She was also, with her backup singer Miriam Hubbard, in a Christian band for a few years and actually had the privilege of performing at the Nassau Coliseum. She met her husband in 1998 and soon discovered his musical talents were not only the guitar but for songwriting. They were blues songs.. oh wow, so different from singing Soprano at church and in choirs!! So she has learned to sing the Blues. They married and two children later formed the band Martini Garden who just released their debut album this year 2013 entitled, “Give a Little Love”. This year she also graduated with her Masters degree in Education and will be substituting in the fall. She cantors regularly at St. Louis de Montefort Church in Sound Beach but has also tried out for the Xfactor a couple of times and made it through a couple of rounds.. Will be trying out in the summer for the Voice.. just for fun.. Christine is a dreamer but lives life to the fullest!! To date she is trilled to join the Mad House TV producers on embarking on a new internet show to share Martini Garden's music along with showcasing up and coming Long Island Talent !..Cause when you “Give a Little Love” you do get some in return.. :)
