I am your host, Erica Byrd, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Executive director of Kheper Life Enrichment Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of family and community values for wellness. Having our roots in faith-based principles, we adhere to methodologies and curricula to uplift, support, and empower each individual with the knowledge that we are fully capable of transformation, as is signified by our ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) name, Kheper. We understand the connection between our past, present and future generations, and from this perspective we seek to embrace and gain from our cultural strengths. This, we believe, is what makes us unique, and what gives impetus to successful personal outcomes and harmonious community networks.
We recognize that we cannot be whole, if but one of us is broken. Our studies of psychological, biological, social, economic, environmental and political structures reveal to us the broader foundations that impact our daily lives.
Through these classes, we seek to heighten awareness thereby building the capacity to cope with these influences according to our innate abilities and given resources. It is our premise that education is key, as “knowledge is power.”
