Thanks to an increasing number of open-mics that have been employed in locations around the world, and the results being made available on the Internet, a revolution in accessing the planet’s spontaneous natural sounds has been taking place. This is amazing. With just the click of a mouse or smartphone, anyone is now able to get the actual sense of being surrounded by nature and to enjoy the fun of listening to the sound of the local weather and animals right across our planet. Through the technology available, we can listen to the unspoiled sounds of nature allowing for real-time natural observation at the local level. It is this opportunity we wish to celebrate, explore and develop through the Cyberforest Project Team and our inaugural “Sense of Globe” Conference 2016. All participants at the conference will have the chance to listen to the sounds in nature and work as a team to seek a concrete conception of the "Sense of Globe" and discuss future co-operative research and the evolution of our project.

素晴らしいことが始まっています。それは地球環境を直感的に把握できるかもしれないということです。現在、世界各地のライブ音をインターネットで聞くことのできるオープンマイクの設置が進められているのです。パソコンやスマホで、例えば富士・山中湖畔の森の音や、ハワイの海中の音、コスタリカの海岸林の音が聞けるのです。ライブ音を聞いていると、マイクのある場所の気象や生物の様子を、子どもから大人まで誰もが直感的に感じ取ることができますし、なによりも自然の音を聴いていること自体が楽しいのです。こうして世界中のライブ音を聞くことで地球全体の様子、地球環境を瞬時に察知できるようになるだろうと考えました。そうした感覚を持つ人が育ってくるだろうと考えたのです。

これを "Sense of Globe" 「全球感覚」と名付け、この度 "Sense of Globe" に関する分野横断かつ国際的なキックオフミーティング、題して「Sense of Globe Conference 2016」を開催します。

世界中の自然の音が聞けるとどうなるだろうか、なにができるだろうか、参加者全員で考えてみましょう。
