Thousands of viewers tuned in on Sunday, Aug. 16 to watch the 2009 Miss Universe Presentation Preshow live from Paradise Island in The Bahamas. While the televised Miss Universe Pageant isn’t for another week on NBC, The Miss Universe Organization streamed a special preshow exclusively for web viewers. The online broadcast provided viewers with a chance to get to know the contestants and see them strut their stuff on stage in preparation for the big show next week. The 2 1/2 hour webcast drew 166,000 unique visitors and 244,000 total viewers–numbers that are considered outstanding even by cable network standards.
All in all it was a smashing success, filled with all the swimsuits, evening gowns, and blinding smiles you could ever hope to see. Thanks to the Miss Universe Organization for giving web viewers a chance to see a sneak peek of the pageant. Tune in to NBC on Sunday, Aug. 23 for the final competition.
