Tour de Office, an Australian nonprofit, is encouraging office-bound workers to get more active while raising money for charity — and streaming video plays a key role.

“The growing knowledge economy is putting more people behind desks for longer periods of time,” says Tudor Marsden-Huggins, an avid cyclist and founder of Employment Office, a recruitment agency based in Australia. “Research shows that sitting for more than four hours per day greatly increases your risk of chronic disease.”

In 2011, Marsden-Huggins launched Tour de Office, a week-long relay event to raise awareness of those health risks. The events are part friendly athletic competition, part fundraising challenge. On August 21, a total solar eclipse will take place in the U.S. for the first time since 1979.

At any given moment there are no less than 2 canines lounging around the Ustream office, and each one is treated as an equal member of the team. More than 2,000 dogs are vying for the ultimate title of best in show, and we all have our favorites.

The festivities kicked off Monday 2/15 at Madison Square Garden in New York City with the winners of the herding, non-sporting, toy and hound groups selected.
