Girls Gone Geek is a Podango Productions, production. Executive Producer/Creator - Scott Bourne LIANA LEHUA, Producer / Host Liana spends her days pursuing any combination of her life’s passions: teaching, creating, coding, surfing, working out, mountain biking, or climbing. Liana is founder and creative director of Creative Cartel, a new media communications company that specializes in a variety of rich media solutions, including: social networking applications, web applications, and audio and video podcasts. Prior to joining Girls Gone Geek, Liana worked her way through the ranks of IT organizations at several major entertainment companies to lead a Hollywood web start-up as Chief Architect. Liana is also Certified as a Personal Trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Liana has had the desire for living a healthy, active lifestyle since she was a wee baby. She continues her personal training by helping people learn about, apply, and maintain health and wellness principles and actions in their own lives. HEATHER MACLEAN, Co-Host Born and raised in the Bay Area (the peninsula, to be exact), Heather earned her BA in Art History at the UC Berkeley. After working as a photographer in an art gallery for three years, she decided to follow her passion for film a career and enrolled in SFSDF. Being a child of the eighties, Heather’s childhood was inundated with marketing, commercials, gimmicks, etc., so her creative life explores these things. She attributes her natural tendency to make use of old and “nostalgic” technology (Commodore 64s/Tandy’s/PixelCam/what have you) to the fact that she also grew up in the computer era. Heather really likes the idea of using antiquated computers and systems to their full capacity and her goal as a filmmaker is to explore the dichotomy between pushing forward but not forgetting past stepping stones in the process. MARIA BERNAL-SILVA, Co-Host A native of San Francisco, Maria recently graduated from San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking & holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema from San Francisco State University. As an independent filmmaker, Maria keeps busy crewing on different film projects as well as working on her own (writing, directing, producing, & editing) in hopes of finding a career path in this creative field. Her favorite movie genre is Science Fiction & her favorite television/film writers/directors include Joss Wedon & JJ Abrams. Girls Gone Geek is her newest venture into the podcasting world. Maria’s hobbies include: running, singing, dancing, drawing, video games, comic books & acting. MARISSA LEVY LERER, Co-Host Marissa grew up in Bethesda, MD right outside of Washington, DC. There, she was heavily involved in the arts but she also had a geeky boyfriend who taught her html. She went off to NYU for college where she majored in Music Education with a concentration in Classical Voice. While at NYU she began gigging as a singer/songwriter all over new york city. She realized that she needed press materials like websites, posters, postcards and a press kit. Rather than find someone to do all of this for her, she decided this was her opportunity to learn something new. She enrolled in a Photoshop course and has never looked back. She supported herself through college by building websites for her fellow musicians. She continued this graphic design path by getting a Masters in Graphic Communications at NYU. Marissa now works as a product developer (ie: professional geek) at MTV using Flash and Flex to build products for the web. She also continues to play music all over the country and has released 2 albums. She lives in New York City and spends most of her time with her Cinematographer husband Geoff and their adorable puppy, Joey Ramone. Marissa is totally honored and excited to be joining the prestigious cast of Girls Gone Geek! MELISSA THIESSEN, Co-Host Ever since teaching herself to read when she was three years old, Melissa has been a geeky girl. Growing up in the Richmond, Virginia area, she took every science class she could both in and out of school, and even started and headed up her high school’s robotics team. Melissa relocated to Philadelphia for college, and now calls the city of soft pretzels, cheesesteaks, and M. Night Shyamalan movies home. She has a double B.S. in biomedical engineering and electrical engineering from Drexel University with concentrations in neuroengineering and control systems. Melissa is currently a neuroscience Ph.D. student at Thomas Jefferson University, doing research on the effects of light on biological rhythms in humans. In what little spare time she has, she enjoys baking, watching movies and TV, playing with her two adorable cats Gracie and Pixel, reading a good book, and geeking out over Apple products and the latest non-fighter Wii games with her boyfriend and best friend Kevin. GGG is Melissa’s first venture into the world of podcasting, and she’s thrilled, honored, and excited to be a part of such an awesome group!
