Unykue, native born in Toledo, Ohio as Jaren Jenea’ Brooks, possess a destiny filled with great accomplishments. Since the age of five, she has been musically inclined playing the violin and later shifted to band playing alto saxophone. After moving to Detroit, Michigan in 2002, Unykue enhanced her musical intellect by playing percussion in the marching band and later became an auxiliary dancer for the Detroit School of Arts (DSA) where she majored in Instrumental Music and minored in Digital Music Production. In the summer of 2009, Unykue was crowned Detroit’s Queen of Beats at 5E Gallery for her victory hosted by Hip-Hop Producer Nick Speed of G-Unit, including the judgement of Grammy Award Winning Hip-Hop Producer, DJ Head. Since July 2009, Unykue has been a fulltime student at Full Sail University and has an anticipated graduation date of August 5, 2011. She holds the Course Director’s Awards for Marketing, Business Ethics & Social Responsibility, Macroeconomics, and Leadership & Organizational Behavior. On January 13, 2011 Unykue made history at the legendary Bullfrog as the first female to be registered for a beat-battle and came through strong with yet, another victory.
