Gideon Mendel is an award winning photographer and has been documenting the impact of HIV/Aids in Africa for more than 12 years, working in 10 different countries to show the many ways the disease has devastated the lives of millions of ordinary people.
Tonight, for one night only, he will present his work and discuss his findings. Gideon has worked on in-depth photo projects for many global publications, most notably for the Guardian.
Born in Johannesburg, Gideon Mendel began working as a photographer in 1983 and has since become one of the world's leading contemporary photojournalists. He was recognised as a key photographer of change and conflict in South Africa in the lead up to Nelson Mandela’s release from prison.
In 2003 Gideon released the book: A Broken Landscape, HIV and Aids in Africa and his work was exhibited widely.
