Fuji Sanctuary, Japan
Please note: The broadcast will begin at 10:00 with a slideshow of Fuji Sanctuary and a short video introducing the SOPP.
This year, we will be using the hashtag #SOPP2017 on Facebook and Twitter to enhance the experience of taking part in the SOPP online. Hashtags are keywords or key phrases that can be used to connect people interested in the same topic or event. Any posts tagged with a certain hashtag will come up in a search for that hashtag, where they can be read in sequence.
We invite and encourage everyone taking part in the SOPP online to use the #SOPP2017 hashtag on Facebook and Twitter, to post their impressions and comments about the event as well as messages to the SOPP community. **Please include your country, or the place where you are writing from. **Others can then use the #SOPP2017 hashtag to find and read these posts. We may also be using the hashtag to read some of your messages live during the ceremony!
We look forward to connecting with all of you who are joining the SOPP online on May 14, and feeling the energy of your prayers for peace.
The Symphony of Peace Prayers is a global event in which people from different faiths and cultures come together to pray for peace on earth. It has been held annually since May 2005 at Fuji Sanctuary in Shizuoka Prefecture,Japan.
In the first part of the program, prayer leaders from a variety of faiths and spiritual traditions lead participants in prayers for peace representing their respective traditions. Everyone joins in offering the prayers of different faiths, creating a beautiful symphony of prayers and transcending boundaries of faith and culture.
The second half of the program is a prayer ceremony calling for peace in each country and region on earth using the national flag of each country. 194 colorful national flags are graciously presented on stage as participants pray, “May peace be in (name of country)” in the country’s national language(s).
In 2015, the SOPP was the venue for the launch of the Fuji Declaration, a call to awaken the ‘divine spark’ in the spirit of humanity and create a harmonious, flourishing civilization. The Fuji Declaration has been endorsed and supported by thousands of individuals and organizations all around the world. Please visit http://fujideclaration.org.
This year’s event continues the themes of the divine spark and oneness within diversity, to build a world of kindness and compassion for all . We will also be revisiting the theme of ‘harmony between the divine feminine and divine masculine’ that was addressed in last year’s Soul of WoMen campaign (https://fujideclaration.org/soulofwomen/). This year, our aim is to take another great leap forward toward manifesting the divine spark in all humanity.
We are once again thrilled to be celebrating the SOPP with viewers around the world through our live Ustream broadcast! We invite all of our viewers to join in the various prayers for peace.
