Phoenix Jones and myself (Purple Reign) along with other members of the Rain City Superhero Movement are tired of seeing innocent people becoming victims of violent crime on our Seattle streets so we decided to take a proactive role in our communities by patrolling and reporting crime when we see it happen. We support our police but there are just not enough of them or a budget that allows them be everywhere and stop all crime. We see them respond to crime after it has happened, which is very unfortunate for the victims.
We wear fully protective gear including bullet-proof vest, ballistics armor, and stab resistant plates because what we do is dangerous. We do not recommend this unless you have proper gear and training (and a legal team!) We do not want to be confused with the criminals so we chose a symbol that everyone recognizes as good and just: Superheroes.
We can stop criminals from getting away with crime by being good witnesses, reporting crime to the police, and giving accurate and complete statements and even testifying when necessary. In my experience, criminals do not want to break the law when they know they are being watched and will be held accountable for their actions.
You may be wondering why we are live-streaming and why we have videos on YouTube? I believe that in addition to being a good witness and providing my statement to the police I can also provide solid evidence through recorded video from our patrols.
We are hoping to work out the kinks in our live-streaming so you can all join us on patrol from the safety and comfort of your home.
Please ask questions in the chat room, post comments, and let us know your thoughts. I value your feedback and input. I hope that by live-streaming we can reach more people with our message, that you dont have to stand by and allow bad things to happen to good people. We are a community and we need to stick together.
