Sabal Palm Sanctuary
Pets, Animals - Birds
We decided to set up a camera on some of our feeding stations here at Sabal Palm Sanctuary so that we might share… This Bird Feeder Cam was made possible through the generous support of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists.
We decided to set up a camera on some of our feeding stations here at Sabal Palm Sanctuary so that we might share some of the Lower Rio Grande Valley's special resident bird species with the world!
Some common species seen at our feeder are Green Jays (brilliant green birds with blue and black heads), Chachalacas (large brown chicken/pheasant-looking birds), White-Tipped Doves, Black-Crested Tit-Mouse (smaller gray birds with a black crest), Long-Billed Thrasher (larger brown birds with white streaky breasts and a yellow eye), Northern Cardinals (males brilliant red, females softer brown, both have large crest), Olive Sparrow (a forest species unique to South Texas and should be the only sparrow we get).
