On Thursday, May 6th, 2010 La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. and the New Latino Movement will be hosting "Trail of DREAMS: National Public Forum”. The public forum will feature the four courageous DREAM Walkers who have walked the 1,500 mile journey from Miami, FL to Washington, DC in order to promote the D.R.E.A.M. Act and Immigration Reform. Carlos, Gaby, Felipe and Juan will arrive in our nation’s capital on May 1st, cheered on by supporters from throughout the country, until their demands are met:
* Equal access to education!
* An end to the separation of families!
* Worker’s rights!
* A pathway to citizenship!
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
In order to unite support for just and humane immigration reform and highlight the urgent need for change we extend our invitation to you and your organization to participate in this nationally streamed public forum. We encourage you to coordinate a LIVE viewing of this event by going to (http://www.launidadlatina.org/event/trail-of-dreams-national-forum) on Thursday, May 6th, 2010 at 7pm. By doing so, we can help spread the word about these important issues affecting millions of families across the country.
WHO ARE THE DREAM WALKERS?
On January 1, 2010, four brave students from Florida - Felipe Matos, Gaby Pacheco, Carlos Roa, and Juan Rodriguez - left Miami to embark on a 1,500-mile march to our nation's capitol in support of the Dream Act and calling upon our nation's leaders to ensure that young people like themselves, and all immigrants, have the chance to realize their potential and fully participate in society.
In the four months that have followed these courageous young leaders have shared their stories, met with community leaders in multiple cities, endured discrimination and hate as they take a stand on behalf of millions who suffer under our failed immigration system.
