Between 12th January and 20th February 2009 Paramahamsa Nithyananda is personally heading the first leg of a grand 'International Walk for Peace and Religious Harmony across South India starting from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu to the ashram in Bidadi in Bengaluru, Karnataka.It will next cover North India after which it will continue in the USA covering many cities and ending at the ashram in Los Angeles. The peace walk:Covers over 1000 km in over 1000 villages where Swamiji personally blesses thousands of people enroute The yatra has been visiting schools and addressing students on Vedic culture, meditation and yoga. Over 2000 students have been touched in just 2 weeks.Honoring sadhus (monks) and other spiritual heads of various religions Distributing Healing prasad to one and allAddressing press meets and meeting political and spiritual leaders to spread awareness about world peace and to encourage participationMass meditation programs across 14 towns touching over 8000 people in just over 2 weeksPerforming rituals which have been proved to raise the collective positive energy by doing- 108 grand homas (fire ceremonies) - Regular abhishekams (ceremonial bath) for the deities- Two 21 minute Maha Arati (ceremonial display of lamps) every evening - Personal pujas and aratis along the way for health and prosperity thereby also spreading the message of peace
