The “Grandfather of Climate Science,” Wally Broecker, discusses the history of climate science and the impact of climate change on the American West. Newberry Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University and a scientist at Columbia's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Wally Broecker is the author of over 450 journal articles and 10 books. His significant contributions in the study of climate change have most recently earned him the 2008 Balzan Prize for outstanding achievement in science and the 2009 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in the Climate Change category.
