New York, NY, December 15, 2011 – Viacom (NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB) today announced an agreement to stream live, web-exclusive  content through Ustream, the leader in live video (www.ustream.com). The partnership officially kicks off with a live Ustream of “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” Red Carpet on Sunday, December 18^th from 5-7pm ET, and will include future live online-only broadcasts of red carpet premieres, musical performances and more from MTV, VH1, CMT, COMEDY CENTRAL and Spike.

Under the deal terms, Ustream will partner with select Viacom networks including MTV, VH1, CMT, COMEDY CENTRAL and Spike, to regularly distribute its live digital content in real time, including O Music Awards, Live in NYC, and Red Carpet premieres. Recent beta tests have included The Breaking Dawn Red Carpet Premiere and Mac Miller Live in Chicago.

With a cell phone and Ustream channel, protester turned independent journalist Tim Pool is your window into Occupy Wall Street.

Tim Pool doesn’t have a fancy camera, high-tech equipment or a news organization to back him. But like most of us, he has a cell phone.

A 25-year-old protester from Chicago who came to New York’s Zuccotti Park in mid-September to join the Occupy Wall Street movement, Pool was one of the thousands evicted from their makeshift home early Tuesday as police raided the site in full riot gear. As members of the media poured downtown, many were denied access to the park, meaning much of the live coverage and updates would have to come from the protesters themselves. Around 1:30 am, Pool switched on the camera of his Samsung Galaxy S II, and began streaming live from Ustream, broadcasting the raid and mass arrests live online to more than 100,000 viewers. ”We’ve seen one of the scariest, heart-racing nights,” he told viewers. “The eviction of Zuccotti Park and it’s really bringing everyone together.” He’s been the eyes of the movement ever since.”

The North Shore Animal League America in Long Island has launched a live video camera at its Port Washington shelter, hoping the images of the puppies and kittens there will attract loving potential owners.

The shelter’s weekly UStream feed of its pet nursery airs live every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and features “beautiful and healthy” shelter puppies and kittens that need permanent homes, according to the organization.

You’d have a hard time finding a more scenic outlook than the one on the Howe family property but what you can’t see from the family’s backyard is the treacherous cliff below.

On that cliff sits a bare wooden box, which is expected to house a few visitors starting in late February.

“They’re nature’s top gun and they’ve marveled mankind for all of our history,” said conservationist Bob Anderson. “The Peregrine Falcon has been clocked at 270 miles an hour on dives.”

But 50 years ago, the Peregrine falcon was on the brink of extinction after a pesticide called DDT poisoned a sizeable percentage of the species.

However Bob Anderson was one of several conservationists across the country who fought to save the species.

His non-profit group, the Raptor Resource Project, has been breeding falcons in captivity and then releasing them into their natural habitats.

“This cliff in La Crescent has had falcons for thousands of years,” Anderson said. “Except for the 50 or so years because of the DDT But now they’re back.”

But on his latest project, Anderson had some help – in the form of boy scout Jonathan Howe.

The 16-year old is currently trying to attain ‘eagle rank,’ which he says is the highest honor a scout can achieve.

All applicants for eagle rank are required to complete a project and, for his, Howe is assisting Anderson with the installation of a camera into the aforementioned falcon nest.

The stream allows the public to have 24-hour viewing access to the entire nesting and mating process of the birds, which are expected to arrive some time between late February and early March of 2012.
