Alpine Rockfest Partners with Ustream to Offer Exclusive Live Coverage

For Immediate Release – December 17, 2012— Ski racing fans and sports enthusiasts will have numerous viewing options to catch the third edition of Alpine Rockfest, a free, sports and entertainment festival, taking place at Paganella Ski Resort in the picturesque Trentino region of the Italian Dolomites on December 20th.

Alpine Rockfest has entered into a unique partnership with the leader in live online broadcasts, Ustream.  Ustream has created and designed an Alpine Rockfest channel that will be available worldwide including a live broadcast direct from Europe at http://www.ustream.tv/alpinerockfest.  Enhancing the viewing experience, special “bonus features,” will include multiple live feeds and behind the scenes interviews with racers.

Skiing fans worldwide will be able to watch and interact during the entire event via Ustream’s chat module at http://www.ustream.tv/alpinerockfest, where fans can begin subscribing and following.

The 2012 Alpine Rockfest will mark the beginning of the three-year partnership with Ustream running through the 2014 season.  Both parties will be working together to bring a new and exciting package of professional winter sports and entertainment to a global audience through multiple live broadcasts and rebroadcasts of the event as well as exclusive behind the scenes interviews and reports directly from the mountain.  Ustream’s deep social medial integration will enable event organizers, teams and athletes to engage their dedicated fan bases.  For the first time in the history of the event, athletes will leverage the Ustream mobile app as well as Ustream’s Broadcast for Friends mobile app to stream live content to their fans via their Ustream channel and their Facebook fan pages.

Programming is designed for both live and television audiences with 20 international ski stars including such favorites as Marcel Hirscher (AUT), Aksel Lund Svindal (NOR), Ted Ligety (USA), Max Blardone (ITA), Christof Innerhofer (ITA), Bode Miller (USA), Cyprien Richard (FRA), Philipp Schoerghofer (AUT) and Jon Olsson (SWE), among others.

The Rockfest format consists of twenty Olympic ski stars racing through four successive rounds of sprint giant slalom with five athletes being eliminated in each round. The “Winner-Takes-All” final round involves the last five athletes. Past winners have been French star Cyprien Richard in 2009, collecting €108,000 in winnings and Ligety, the 2011 Alpine Rockfest Champion, with winnings of €60,000. On December 20th in Andalo, competitors will race in pursuit of this seasons largest single cash prize in Ski Racing: €70,000.
