Ustream Announces Strategic Alliance with IMG Media to Provide Platform for Streaming and Distributing Live Games and Events

Ustream to broadcast select IMG Media live sporting events to a global online audience

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.– October, 2012 Ustream Inc., the largest live online broadcast network, today announced a strategic alliance with IMG Media,  the world’s largest independent producer and distributer of sports programming, to be the online broadcast platform for IMG Media to distribute live games and events online to a worldwide audience.  The agreement covers select sports content from around the world ensuring global audiences will see these amazing events regardless of platform.

Ustream’s social, live video platform has upended audience size expectations for online video. With 60 million monthly unique viewers enabling over 9 million total views during recent mega streams such as the Mars Rover Landing and Apple’s iPhone 5 announcement. Ustream has demonstrated it is the only live video platform capable of scaling to the size of global audiences for large events.  As part of the agreement with IMG Media, Ustream will access and encode live feeds via satellite and distribute the content on the Ustream platform as well as to partner sites so fans can choose where to watch their favorite sporting events across a selection of top tier sites.

Ustream Partners with Video the Vote to Power Live, Up-to-the-Minute Citizen Reports from Polling Precincts Across the USA

Ustream mobile to provide instant transparency in a contentious voting environment

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. NOV, 1 2012 – Ustream (www.ustream.tv), the leader in live online video, has teamed up with Video the Vote (www.videothevote.org) to power citizen reporters with a seamless platform to broadcast election hotspots across the country with the Ustream mobile app.  On Tuesday, November 6th, citizen reporters will go live on the Ustream mobile app from polling locations to watchdog the voting process through live video in order to help monitor voting intimidation and voter suppression in key states throughout the U.S.

Video the Vote and Ustream are currently looking for volunteers to act as citizen reporters across the country to provide live-broadcast reports directly from the front lines on Election Day. These reporters will monitor the polling locations, providing live video feeds directly from their mobile devices with Ustream’s variety of mobile applications. Especially in states with indications of voter suppression tactics, including: NV, FL, OH, PA, NC, VA, WI, AZ and CO, these reports will help to provide transparency about what is occurring at polling location across the country. In the last three years, Ustream has seen an almost 50 percent increase in the use of mobile devices as the main source of viewing content and 1 out of 8 broadcasts are live from mobile devices.  Ustream’s development team has designed and created theUstream mobile app for theiPhone, iPad andAndroid devices making the process of streaming live broadcasts and viewing this content as easy as a touch of a button.
