#RapSessions: Hip-hop Activism in the Obama / Tea Party Era will explore ways that the election of Barack Obama, the emergence of the Tea Party, and the shifting political landscape have both strengthened and diminished hip-hop’s effectiveness at mobilizing young people.
Panelists include Rob “Biko” Baker (executive director at LYVEF), Jasiri X (hip-hop artist/ activist), Rosa Clemente (2008 Green Party vice-presidential candidate) and Adam Mansbach (author of Angry Black White Boy). The panel will be moderated by respected political analyst, Bakari Kitwana.
