Broadcasting in Higher Quality on Ustream

    With a few simple steps you can broadcast in higher quality on Ustream! At the moment both options require a computer running Windows:

    All of Ustream's great features now with FME's quality! To start using FME with Ustream, follow these instructions:

    1. Download and install Flash Media Encoder (FME): Click here to download.
      (Note: FME only works with Vista and XP. It will work on a Mac running Vista or XP via bootcamp.)

    2. Download your show's XML file from the Advanced Tab of the My Shows page.



    3. Open FME then open your show's XML file from the saved location.
      To open your XML file, click "File" -> "Open".
      Note: if you currently have the Ustream broadcast console open, please close it before opening and starting FME.

    4. Click "Start" in FME



    5. Open up the broadcast console by clicking "Broadcast Now". If you correctly started FME, the broadcast console will automatically locate the FME stream and there will be a message in the header that says "Broadcasting with FME".
      Note: in order for the broadcast console and FME to sucessfully work together, you must start FME BEFORE opening up the broadcast console. If you currently have the Ustream broadcast console open, please close it before opening and starting FME.





    Ustream High Quality Encoder (VP6)

    The Ustream High Quality encoder is a plug-in for your browser that will increase your video and audio quality without altering the way you use Ustream.

    1. Download and install the plug-in. (You can also do this from the Broadcast Console by going to "Advanced Settings" and checking the box under "Ustream High Quality Encoder")



    2. To turn Ustream's High Quality encoder on and off go to "Advanced Settings" in the Broadcast Console and check the "use high quality encoder" box.
