This camera is located at Cape Churchill, within Wapusk National Park (NP) in northern Manitoba. In Wapusk NP, Parks Canada protects one of the world's largest concentrations of polar bear maternity dens (where female bears give birth).
Polar bears congregate in October and November at Cape Churchill, along the Hudson Bay coast, waiting for the sea ice to form. The bears depend on the sea ice as a platform from which to hunt ringed seals, their main food source.
