NEW NEST: I have moved the cameras to a new nest with hen Woodieladylake. She has 14 eggs and pip watch starts Memorial day, May 28.

Woodiepier Wood Duck hatched 16 of 18 eggs after 30 days of incubation on May 15. She and the babies jumped out on May 16, 2012.

Woodieland Wood Duck and her 14 babies left the nest on May 3rd, 2012 at 9:15 AM EST.

The Prothonotary Warblers will arrive from South America in a few days. I have over 100 boxes on the lake and hopefully I will have a Warbler nest in camera range this year.

Woodie Wood Duck started full time incubation Feb. 23 and she had at least 18 eggs, 4 of which did not hatch. All 18 were not hers. The first egg was Feb. 9, 2012. Woodie was banded, probably one I banded last year.

Woodiecam1 is located on Holt Lake near Smithfield, North Carolina. Holt Lake is 600 acres and is 2.5 miles long rimmed with cypress trees.

Babies can fly in 8 to 10 weeks.

Predator Guards: This box is on a post with a predator guard. Be aware that it is still possible for Raccoons and Black Snakes to get around the guards but it is rare.
