Wheaton vs. Springfield College

Second-place Wheaton takes on Springfield, which is tied for third in the NEWMAC, in a critical late-season contest. The Lyons have won four straight against the Pride in Norton, as the home team had taken nine consecutive series meetings until the Blue and White’s triumph at Springfield in December. Wheaton, which is 12-3 since a 1-4 start, has gone 43-10 in Norton since December 2006 and won 65 of its last 68 regular season contests in Emerson Gym when scoring at least 70 points since November 1993. Senior Andrea Bailey, whose 452 career assists are a program record, stands sixth in Division III in helpers per game. Classmate Jenny Champney is seventh at Wheaton with 1,151 points, while Jeana Trimboli needs one three-pointer to tie the program’s freshman record of 45 threes. Since a 4-8 start, the Pride has won seven of its last eight contests. Springfield’s stifling defense has keyed its victories, as the Pride is 10-0 when allowing 54 points or less, having held five teams to less than 40.
