Welcome to the Herring Creek! The Natural Resources Department has placed this live feed in an effort to count the herring returning to spawn through Tribal lands. The video is recorded and exported to a specialized software program to assist with the counting process. The camera will be capturing video from mid March to early June, then perhaps again in the fall.
We hope you enjoy the site and get as excited to see our anadromous friends return from the ocean to our brackish ponds to spawn.
Funding for this project was sponsered in part by grants from the National Fish and Widlife Foundation, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Tribal Wildlife Grant Program and the United States Environmental Protection Agengy. Special thanks to Brad Chase and Edward Clark of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries for the use of the fish passage as well as their assistance, experience and insight with this fisheries project.
