We do believe that each group has its own methods for gathering evidence, and there is certainly room for all of us. For ourselves, we have a slightly different philosophy about ghost hunting.
First, we prefer to not use the term "debunk"...imagine if you are someone who is faced with bizarre events, and someone comes at you saying they are going to debunk it, thus insinuating that you are...A - a liar or B - imagining things, i.e. you are nuts...we don't believe this helps anyone deal with their situation!
Instead, it is our goal to simply gather as much information as we can, and find the most reasonable explanation available, whether it is from a normal source or a paranormal one. Either way, we want to bring some comfort and reassurrance to those faced with anomalous experiences -- calmly, rationally, and with compassion.
We will also be seeking to re-create the original circumstances surrounding whatever events that took place, and maintain as normal an environment as possible. In other words, we will NOT be going dark as soon as any investigation begins. Many bizarre events occur in broad daylight, or when a family is going about their normal routine, with the lights on. We feel that there is at least a possibility that keeping the setting as normal as possible may increase the chances of gathering more evidence. When it's the normal time for a place or home to go dark, then we will, and we'll thereby be able to conduct investigations in a wider variety of circumstances, and hopefully get better results overall.
