Now for some "ART HISTORY -


The Elaine Benson Gallery was an art gallery in Bridgehampton, New York, United States. Founded by Elaine Benson, it was considered to be one of the most prominent and influential art galleries in the area (an area with a high concentration of galleries) and a center of social activity in the notably tony Hamptons, frequented by such luminaries as Betty Friedan, Kurt Vonnegut, Sheldon Harnick, Michael Sallinger, Elaine Steinbeck, and Willem de Kooning.

Michael Sallinger had the pleasure of being asked (twice) to do a one-man show at the Benson Gallery. The first, The Mobis Series, 14 pieces, limited edition 30 pieces each. And the Facade Series, free hanging mobiles, 15 pieces, limited edition of 30 pieces each. Additionally, Sallinger had one or two pieces in the gallery during the entire busy summer season. We sold work at every show.

Artist Michael Sallinger has had exhibits in over one hundred gallery and exhibition shows in five countries - L.A. to NYC- and to this day he always gives Elaine Benson a debt of gratitude for her constant support.

Elaine died a few years ago from cancer. We all miss her greatly. The art world misses her
greatly. Thanks Elaine.

As it happens, Michael Sallinger, and Elm Fine Art Publishing, are in the middle of a
series of art related coffee table books, ten in a delux box set with a companion book
to intro the set. Each book will feature a differant medium(photos,illistrations,etc.) and
poems, quotes,shorts stories mixed with bio material about Michael Sallinger and the
publishers relationship with the artists over the last thirty years.

Our audience on USTREAM.TV will - for the next few months- watch Sallinger working at his
Wesley Hills studio until April 08. At the same time we will have special shows as
we make new sculpture and mobiles - work as usual - unpredictable at best.

Thanks for all your viewing of our shows and web-site,video sites etc.,keep it up tell your friends about our site ,the music, and help us spread the word. Kids need to be exposed to fine art, the music helps shove it into their imaginations without knowing it.

The shadows in some make it happen. In others the "Facade" series of
hanging "faces" Mobiles are a constant visual fascination. I like the lips myself.
