From being interviewed by Danny Howard on his Dance Anthems Show live on BBC Radio One reaching 33million people across the world to playing at Scotlands biggest music festival, T in The Park at 15 years of age, Stefan Janik isn't your avarage DJ/Producer. Aswell as taking exams and dealing with being a teenager Stefan Janik is fast becoming a known name between professional DJs and Producers across Britain and Europe after his remix of Example's "Stay With Me" hit 35,000 plays on Soundcloud in just 1 month.
Since the start in early 2011 when he was only 12 years old, buying second hand Numark belt driven turntables from Cash Converters and over priced House viynls, it has been something of a bug for Stefan. Ever since then he has played in many diffrent and weird venues across the country and abroad. Wether its rocking massive big room electro house and techno beats through a funktion one system on an open air stage at T in The Park too 400 raving people in a muddy feild or playing very 118bpm mellow and deep soulful house on the sands of a west coast of Scotland beach with a intimate crowd of 50 this DJ has handeled many diffrent situations and has always came away smiling.
Mainly calling himself a DJ personaly is an understatment as actualy creating his own sound and being unique as a producer has always been a main vision secretly for Stefan and with the realese of his original track "Cold Feet" approching in September this will most definatly be more consistant in his live shows.
But 2014 has definatly been his most sucsesful year so far launching his own house and techno nights in the west end of Glasgow named "Shafton Nights" once a month mainly consisting of about 80 of his mates from school and other 14 - 17 year olds. However after his apperance with Danny Howard live on Radio 1 in May things really rocketed for him, an article in The Sun Newspaper told the story how mega star Example - after meeting Stefan and listening to his work - admired the youth "You can always spot star quality in someone. It dosent matter what age they are. Youve got to have that twinkle in your eye and i saw it - Stefan has a bit about him." After meeting Example, Stefan was asked to do a remix of Examples hit single "Stay With Me" which was uploaded in late June, within one month it reached 35,000 plays on soundcloud. After playing a show at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Glasgow with Mistajam and Charlie Sloth, major promotion company DF Concerts showed intrest in him and offered him his slot at T in The Park and is now managed by one of their team.
With 2014 came gigs at legandary superclub "The Tunnel" and some shows at "The O2 Academy" in Glasgow however he reaches further than just Scotland, this summer he has acheieved an ultimate goal of playing some gigs on the White Isle that is Ibiza. His sets in late July to early August have been somthing to watch out for in club bars like The Highlander in the West End bringing a fresh and banging sound and somewhat of an uproar when he played the West Ends only nightclub "Play 2" - the crowd was going mental.
"I cant believe how crazy its been, being here with my parents and travelling too all these clubs, im so excited too finish off by playing in Svannah Bar too just chill! I dont want to go home! I cant wait to come back next year for a month and play as many gigs as i can!"
For the rest of 2014 you can find Stefan playing shows at diffrent venues across Scotland and the UK every weekend.
