When the Utah Legislature convenes in January 2010, lawmakers will have the task of cutting a reported $700 million – and as much as $850 million – from the state’s budget. How will these budget cuts affect you, your business, and your family?
Guest speakers will include Norm Bangerter, former Utah governor and current chairman of the Utah Advisory Commission to Optimize State Government; Dr. Larry Shumway, state superintendent of public instruction; and Lane Beattie, president of the Salt Lake Chamber. Each will present prepared remarks, engage dialogue with one another and attendees, and respond to questions. State Representative Ron Bigelow, co-chair of the Legislature’s Executive Appropriations Committee, will serve as moderator.
The Utah Prosperity Forum is a collaborative project of the Salt Lake Chamber and Sutherland Institute, developed to facilitate constructive and civil dialogue about complex and sometimes controversial issues pertaining to Utah's economy.
