‘’Recording the lives of the needy, Spreading the voice of the minority, .’’
Recently, the Hong Kong mainstream media usually constraint themselves on reporting any news viewed as contradictions to the instruction of ‘’consistency’’ announced by the Central government of China.
When facing the messages from the minority, the needy and some small social groups, or the activities organized by the so-called ‘’radical’’ political parties, the mainstream media usually adopt two ways to hinder these voices to be heard in the public. They usually dominate the public discussion by reporting the limited area of the news and commenting the news in accordance with the views and instructions of the Central government, otherwise, they make no mention of the news.
Therefore, The SocREC was established on 1st August in 2010. All members are the volunteers who are determined to record all the social issues ignored by the mainstream media, and announce all these records to the public via the Internet.
