Would you like to find out about the exciting work being done in the field of social entrepeneurship? Dr. Diana Wells, President of Ashoka and Brown alumnus, will be at Brown on November 11th at 7 pm to talk about the future of social entrepreneurship and her experiences working on social change.
Ashoka is an organization dedicated to responding effectively to social challenges by growing a global entrepreneurial citizenry. They envision an “Everyone A Changemaker” world. Through the Ashoka Fellows program, Ashoka identifies leading social entrepreneurs and provides them with the resources they need to achieve maximum social impact. Dr. Wells is responsible for creating the Ashoka’s Fellowship program. She also contributed to the field of social entrepreneurship by implementing one of the first standard tools to measure the impact of social entrepreneurship at Ashoka.
Dr. Wells is on the Advisory Board for Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and on the Board of GuideStar International. In the past, she has taught at Georgetown University on Anthropology and Development and has both authored and edited numerous journal and book publications including two compilations on social movements in the United States.
Dr. Wells was also recently celebrated as one of 10 winners of the first annual Women to Watch award, by Running Start, a Washington, DC based non-profit organization that empowers young women to be political leaders.
