Day 5: Everyone is growing fast. Fat bellies, and personalities are paramount now. Their appetite is strong. All is well! Goldie has had some nausea today. We hope it passes. Her temperature will be watched closely.
Day 3 Goldie and her babies are doing as fine as can be. Each little darling is growing like a weed. Nursing and squirming, whining and barking, they already respond to noises. I can bark loud and one will bark and growl. This is something I noticed in our last litter, Jan 9th. They can hear even tho their ears are shut. It is good to hold them up to your cheek and talk to them in a sweet loving voice. Already on the first and second day most of them could practically stand up and walk. Their bodies are harder and stronger. You can feel the strength and tuffness in these pups. Their weight gain is a positive sign that they are eating well, the milk is rich, and enough for 10 babies. Even the pups that had lost an ounce or two have gotten back what they lost and more!
Goldie is doing nicely. She is still a bit labored and pale in the face. Her appetite was not what it should have been, however, suppliments, gravy, and canned food mixed all in has renewed her hunger! This is also helping her body recover from the process. She is a very hardy dog and will recoup fast! With this litter she is so much more aware of where her babies are. Tries very hard to not lay on them and recovers the one that is astray. She amazes me each time she has a litter.
In total, we had over 100 viewers to watch the live birth! Thank you all for sharing this exciting event of our family! God is good to give us a healthy litter and momma! Keep tuning in to see them grow!
