About Ridhi Patibandla
Hello! My name is Ridhi Patibandla. I am 16 years old and soon going to be a junior at Hamilton Southeastern High School. My dance journey began when I was five years old, with Smt. Subha Prasanna who soon moved out of Indiana. At that time, dance was merely another extracurricular activity among many others. At age of six I continued my dance lessons from Smt Sunitha Yogananda who played a major role in helping me learn the basics of Bharatanatyam. At the age of 9 I continued my dance lessons under the tutelage of guru Smt. Vrinda Sunil (fondly called Vrinda aunty). The innate discipline, values and sensibility inculcated by my guru has provided me with a sense of balance and a sense of joy all around me.
Bharatanatyam has always played a central role in my life. As I have been growing up, my connection to the art has drastically increased. It has served as my escape. After a long tiring week at school, it was good to know that class was waiting for me on Friday evenings. It is also my own way of understanding my culture. Because I live thousands of miles from India, connecting to my roots has proved to be quite difficult. However, learning Bharatanatyam has allowed me to learn more about Hinduism and Indian culture than I would have ever known.
Dance has been a part of me since I was six years old and I fall in love with it everyday, exploring the subtle nuances that hide behind every step. Everything about the graceful art form attracts me and I am always eager to see what else there is to discover within the vast art. With ease I can say that I would not be the same person I am today without dance holding such an important place in my life.
My Arangetram means so much to me as it is my way of showing what I have garnered through the ten years of learning dance. I want to showcase everything my Guru has taught me, from perfect posture to exquisite expressions, hoping to leave an impression in the audience's hearts. Looking forward to sharing my passion with you!
