The speakers will present the Democratic Pole’s view of the current state of labor rights, human rights and the Colombian government’s efforts to return land to internally displaced persons in Colombia. They will also address the assassination of 20 members of the PDA, and members of their party having received over fifty threats in 2010, as well as the current status of the DAS intelligence scandal investigations in which various members of the PDA were victims. The panelists will give their view of the U.S.-Colombia free trade agreement and make recommendations on how U.S. policies and programs can help to improve the labor, human rights and impunity situation in Colombia.
