artsit talk will begin at 7:30 As an artist, I strive for truth in representation, an honesty that transcends medium, a materialized thought that changes with each breath, a whole. However, with each floundering attempt I’m only left with a fragment, a reflection, a lie, a hole. I’m a liar, but I’m in great company; from Rembrandt to Degas, Picasso, Acconci, Sherman, and Hirst. All Liars. Liars who tell great stories, but liars nonetheless. Join me at La Esquina gallery August 20, 2010 as I call all artists liars and unveil the truth for the first time in art history through a monumental work I have conveniently entitled “The Truth.” A work so remarkable it’s infused with the complete essence of my being. Come watch via webcast or in person as “The Truth” is stretched in the gallery before your very eyes to the musical compositions of musician/composer Hunter Long. Don’t watch as I leave the gallery and take to the isolated woods of Missouri for three days with no food, shelter or basic amenities on an actual hunt using only tools formed from “The Truth” in an effort to salvage its namesake. Finally, be there on August 24, 2010 as I return straight from the woods back to the gallery to share my kills, stories, and experiences from the hunt. Be sure to bring your appetite, as this is a BBQ/ potluck. However, if you don’t believe in the artist’s hunting prowess, you are welcome to bring your own food - and even feed the artist.
