From 18:08 on Thursday 15 October until 07:25 on Friday 16 October, McKenzie will repeatedly strike matches across the surface of the gallery wall. The residual red marks will create a drawing the duration of which will be the length of time between sunset and sunrise. The drawing and the discarded matches will be left in the space following the performance. It will be a poetic and poignant attempt to keep moments of light burning into the hours of darkness.
Jordan McKenzie has exhibited both nationally and internationally developing his praxis within a variety of contexts. His work explores the relationship of drawing and the process of mark making to the body and is concerned with making critical and artistic investigations into the performativity of drawing.
