Jerry Costello will share his perceptions on how Congress changed over the course of his 25 years serving the people of Southern Illinois. Costello, the dean of the Illinois delegation in Washington, chose not to seek reelection in 2012. Born in East St. Louis, Costello began his career in law enforcement before entering politics with election to the St. Clair County Board in 1980.
Costello served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Science Committee and was recognized as one of the most knowledgeable leaders on transportation issues in the Congress. He served as Chairman or Ranking Member of the Subcommittees on Aviation, Water Resources, Rail, Energy and Space.
