Georges' goal on this particular world record attempt is to break the existing GWR of 8:01:01 that was set by George's Chinese rival, Mao Weidong at China's world cup plank challenge this past May, 2016. George has already surpassed the current GWR in training with a time of 8:15:00 just a few weeks ago. George has been training vigorously over the past 4 months with consecutive long planks every other week. George's training the past several months included long planks of 4:01 AUG 2016 in Montreal, 5:45 in Carlsbad, Sept 3rd, 7:05 on Sep 17th and an 8:15 in October. Stay up to date with George and all his training at https://www.facebook.com/george.e.hood
George's previous official best in May, 2016 at the World Cup Plank Challenge in Beijing was 7 hours, 40 minutes and 4 seconds. George is currently the #2 ranked plank holder in the world and is the current U.S. record holder for the plank. George is the only individual to have set the plank record 4x over the last 5 years and one additional record in September, 2015 when he set the 40lb Weighted Plank record in Indiana, PA at 2:35:35.
George executed most of his long planks here in southern California at the Way of Life Boot Camp facility in Oceanside, CA. This is a training venue that George is quite comfortable at and which has a member following that can generate alot of energy. Forrest Folen owns Way of Life Boot Camp and is the MC for the Nov event....you'll hear Forrest provide commentary throughout this broadcast. During the course of George's attempt, there will be a brief pause when all attention will be directed to George's platform where George will conduct a very emotional and poignant tribute to our veterans and those veterans who've made the ultimate sacrifice. The tribute will be done by George while in the pose and at a time when he will be under duress, but which will fill him with an emotional energy that should propel him to his record setting goal.
George will be assisted during this long plank by members of Team Hood who will supervise his form and tend to all his physiological and cognitive needs during his plank, which is expected to last over 9 hours. In fact, George's goal has already been established and is now a mission for George to accomplish by setting the new World Record at 9:11:01!! Operations manager Mary Shanley will be overseeing much of the operation aboard the flight deck and will be assisted by the rest of TeamHood as well as many from the Way of Life Boot Camp facility. George's all important Cognitive Team will include returning TeamHood members Dana Glowacka from Montreal Canada and Karen Coffee from Chapel Hill, NC...Karen is known for her recent appearance on TV's Naked and Afraid that aired earlier this year. Celebrity Fitness Trainer Tony Nicholson representing the China Fitness Authority will be on hand as well to assist in the certification of Hood's attempt.
George has distinguished himself in the fitness industry with regard to his ability to sustain such extreme events and raise money for charity. Pls take note of the work being done by the various crew personnel during his attempt. These folks are volunteers who have partnered with George to sustain him thru his journey. Without them, his effort would not be possible.
