That's it for this year .....
The five chicks took the plunge between 09:30 and 10:00 on Sunday June 8th. The nest is now empty and quiet but the garden is chirping while test flights are made into various trees and bushes. Job done...
Until next year.
Camera inside a bird box in Wicklow, Ireland.
The 7 eggs hatched on Monday May 19th. as of today, Mon June 2nd, there are five chicks being fed regularly. They are expected to fledge around Monday June 9th,
Chicks are difficult to see in night vision - next year's upgrade will be to add internal lighting on a day/night timer. Occasional interference on the camera can be caused by our microwave oven - close to the camera receiver unit!.
The box is on an east facing ivy covered wall and has been in position for three years. This is the first year that it has been occupied.
The camera is a 2.4 ghz wireless, with automatic infra red night vision. Night vision is active most of the time since the inside of the box is so dark. Also has sound - Should get quite noisy now that chicks have arrived.
