Google's free Applications suite (sometimes referred to as Google Docs) is a powerful combination of web-based word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs (among others) that are changing the way students and teachers work together on group projects. Northfield Community School implemented Google Applications for its 8th grade students this year, beginning with Mrs. Kathy Fields' Introductory Physical Science (IPS) class. Come to this session to learn how Google Applications helped improve and strengthen a classic group science project - Mrs. Fields' famous "Sludge Test" - by allowing students to collaborate 24/7, in school and at home, throughout all phases of this classic middle school science lab. Hear students, in their own words, describe how Google Applications helped them work together in ways they never had before and what they gained along the way. Finally, learn how to implement Google Applications at YOUR school - and reap the benefits!
