About Dibden Center for the Arts:
Dibden is Johnson State College's acoustically acclaimed 500-seat theater. Each semester, we host an eclectic array of shows from the realms of music, theater, dance, comedy and more. Performers include JSC students, members of the local community, and regionally and nationally known professional acts.
Our technical theater students, who are charged with running the Center, gain valuable experience in areas such as lighting, costume construction, sound engineering and stage management. They have a hand in every last detail of every performance. Dibden also serves as an incubator for our theater, music and dance programs.
On most any given day, Dibden crackles with energy. Students take classes, musicians lay down tracks in the recording studio, acting and dance students rehearse on stage, bands practice in the basement, and visitors take in student and faculty work in the Julian Scott Memorial Gallery. From early in the morning to late at night, art truly comes to life.
Dibden also provides a vibrant connection between JSC and the surrounding community. Most events are free and open to the public, and we often host performances by local dance studios and high school students.
