The Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences presents an original work of Theater Developed by students in the Advanced Theater ensemble. The generation of this piece began with a discussion this past fall about finding ways to utilize current technology to expand our audience beyond the confines of our theater. In the Winter of 2008, we designed a website to collect stories from student around the world. The effort garnered some stories but not at the level we had hoped. That said, the stories provided us with a road map for the project. We next began to look at how Americans were perceived from aboard. That in turn, ;let us to website depicting various global events, which in turn led us to the “photos that changed the world”. These photos stimulated the students and provided a context for improvisation. During the spring, these improvisations were recorded, themes evolved and ultimately, a script was developed. The final product is only vaguely connected to our original concept, though this journey has been an exciting and creative process. The piece reflects the heart and mind of this group. We thank you for participating with us.
