The government’s consultation on higher education demands a strategic response from higher education providers in universities, further education and alternative private providers.
A sustained period of higher fees, an expanding student base and a focus on research excellence is reaching, if not already at its peak. Universities are being asked questions by students about cost, learning and teaching quality; by employers about work relevance and leadership skills; by government about impact and lifelong learning in higher skills; by cities who host them about business links and by alternative providers bringing specialisms and new business models.
A variety of reports on research and on business relationships have questioned the role and mission of universities, and the special privileges and protections they enjoy in the UK.
Our presenters and commentators will provide important insight and understanding of the policy implications of these questions.
The conference is also available to watch live and on demand.
