Either way, I’m bashfully proud to announce that Ustream.TV has been chosen by AlwaysOn as an OnHollywood 100 company. And of the 100 top private tech companies in digital media, AlwaysOn’s editorial staff picked out Ustream as “Best Up & Coming Company”. We were one of two companies distinguished amongst the top 100, along with “Best Overall” winner iLike.
I’m blushing, and so should you. Without our broadcasters, our viewers, our Ustreamers… without YOU… none of this would be possible. It’s been a wild upswing of a ride thus far, and hopefully you’ll be around when “Best Up & Coming” converts to “Best Already There”.
Other winners include mainstays Slide, RockYou, Flixter, Kongregate, Mochi Media, and about 94 other outstanding social media peer comanies.
Prizes! Scores! Leader boards!
We’re psyched to announce the out of the blue, ridiculously addicting and exhilarating, Ustream Scavenger Hunt!
Using Twitter we’ll give you things to find on Ustream ranging anywhere from “a high school basketball game” to “a band jamming”. Your goal is to find it on Ustream as fast as humanly possible and then tweet us back with “@ustreamtv I found it! http://ustream.tv/WHATEVER-I-JUST-FOUND”.
Oh right…you better hurry up because if you don’t find it within 5 minutes of the announcement… it expires.
If you are the first to correctly answer the question – you get 1 point. Later, once you’ve dominated the game and built up a nice pile of lovely points, you can trade them in for a Ustream T-Shirt! (We’ll publicly track who has has points and how many)
10 points = 1 Ustream Shirt!
So, fellow Ustreamers, good luck. I send you into this battle with confidence – just stay strong and make sure you can search really fast. I wouldn’t worry though…chances are you’ll win.
Unless one of our other 4,000 twitter followers beats you to it!
This mission to Mars cost around 380 million dollars!
The Phoenix Lander has been in transit for ten months!
There hasn’t been a successful power landing on Mars since 1976.
There is a 20 minute delay in communications between us and the Phoenix Lander. So we’re almost blindly guiding it.
The Phoenix Lander was sent to the martian planet, Mars, with the intention of looking for signs of life. It is prepared to dig for ice – aka frozen water – aka signs that life was possible. This Sunday we will find out. Its just got to land first…
The decent will take, in total, seven minutes. Seven – tension-filled-fingernail-biting – minutes. Luckily we have the SpaceVidcast to cover it for us. Come join us at 3:30pm PST for a play by play, they won’t stop streaming until we know this thing has safely landed. We’re all anxious to find those little green people…
R&B Superstar Group Pretty Ricky just might be the first Platinum-certified group to reveal a new member via live online video broadcast. Don’t let all the qualifiers fool you — this is an exciting first here on Ustream!
Pretty Ricky will host a live webcast today, Monday, May 19th from their hometown of Miami, where the group will not only introduce their new singer, 4Play, but will also premiere their new single, “Cuddle Up (Feat. Butta Crèame).” Fans can log onto Pretty Ricky’s official website, located at www.prettyricky.com, at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m PT.
“Pretty Ricky is more than just a group; it’s a lifestyle, a state of mind,” says co-founder Diamond Blue. “4Play is the perfect addition to the Pretty Ricky family.”
In addition to Monday’s live webcast, a series of exclusive webisodes, entitled “21 Days of 4Play,” began steaming earlier this week at www.prettyricky.com. The clips – which answer the question on everybody’s lips: “Who is 4Play?” – feature never-before-seen footage of the group both at work and at play – recording in the studio, chilling in Miami, kicking it at home, and relaxing on the beach.
Have you heard of this company called Google? In case you haven’t, we have something special for you.
Ustream.TV proud to present a live broadcast of the New America Foundation’s interview-style discussion and Q&A session with Google Co-Founder and President Larry Page. And guess what, you can participate!
During the discussion, Mr. Page will describe Google’s strategy for expanding access to the Internet and allocating spectrum more efficiently — and explain why opening the vacant TV channels for unlicensed access after next February’s DTV transition is the most important thing the FCC can do this year to promote broadband deployment and tech sector innovation.
Larry Page will take questions live from the chat room and preselected questions from the comment section of this blog post. So be sure to post your questions in the comments here or be there live to ask.
You can watch the live stream from the New America Foundation’s Ustream channel page:

Sorry boys and girls, no presents this year – Santa just likes Ustream better than Christmas.
Oh yes ladies and gents – we got a sweet line up for you. I’ve gone ahead and put together the most recent and best of Ustream. For you! All for you. Enjoy!
First up we got 50 Cent. I don’t care if you like him or not, I don’t care what you think – This video is gold. Uncut dialog of a man who went from nothing to something. Rags to riches. Gangs, drugs, sex, and rap – Watch this video and you’ll see how hard it was, what his morals are, and what a legit business man he is.
Next we have the second Digg Town Hall. With millions of members its hard, as a company, to address complaints and handle a community. Well being the creative geniuses they are, Digg chose us, Ustream, as a way to communicate and initiate a conversation with their users. We’re honored and we can’t wait for the next one.
Third – lastly – but definitely the funniest, the one and only Rhett and LinKast! These guys are funny as hell. The first time I ever watched them… I watched an hour long recorded video. Nope, not live, it was recorded. Thats how funny they are. I kid you not when I say that Rhett and Link get live streaming, they understand how to interact with a live chat and dominate the production. Enjoy the video – David Choi shows up later (he’s YouTube famous).
I asked on Twitter if you wanted another caption contest – well gosh darn it here’s another caption contest. The funniest caption wins and is reposted in all its glory. Winner takes all! (don’t forget to subscribe to our blog and follow us on twitter)
P.S. – We’re going to need some more pictures soon – stop by our store, buy a shirt, then take a crazy picture.
P.P.S – The guy in the picture wants you to go check out his site – www.thesquirrelcam.com
Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson.
Yes a dog kept running back and forth behind them, yes they were drinking soda instead of their usual imported beers, and YES they both matched at the beginning of the Town Hall…
They had a great Town Hall. They answered tons of questions and enjoyed themselves throughout. It looks easy, but lets give them a round of applause, or at least a golf clap as you sit there behind your computer screen. Bravo Digg, Bravo.
If you missed the recording, I included the embed below. Enjoy
