Revolutionizing Live News?

Today’s tragic events at Virginia Tech University are horrifying and hard to grasp.  Like the rest of the world, the team here at Ustream.tv is shocked and numb.  Our sympathies go out to the families

Ustream.tv was featured tonight on CBS Nightly News showing a student LIVE and mobile at Virginia Tech streaming the events as they unfolded while being interviewed.

Ustream.tv is also proud to support the efforts of Chris Pirillo and other citizen journalists who are taking to the Internet to discuss the day’s events and try to make sense of this terrible tragedy.          See the recorded broadcast of Chris’s 24/7 live coverage of the Virginia Tech events here: http://ustream.tv/chrispirillo/videos/bhi33KQS7tCNS,Bbhi,w1w

Ustream will continue to provide a live video platform to anyone who wants to make their voice heard during this tragic time.

Hi Ustream. I am the Virginia Tech student who used Ustream to do an interview for the CBS Evening News. Just wanted to thank you guys for making an easy way for people to stream live video over the internet. Using something else like Windows Media would have been a nightmare and only would have caused problems. Thanks again guys!

That was a tough day for our university, but Ustream really impressed me on April 16th. I wish I had a camera in classroom the days following the shootings, because it would have been cool to see how many people were moving around in that room. I remember Shanks 160 more than any other place during the tragedy. Planet Blacksburg really grew up that week, and Ustream helped get critical information out to the rest of the world.

We’re glad Ustream was able to help the folks at Virginia Tech in some small way. As the new school year starts, and the healing continues, we continue to wish you the best.
