Rarely, a musician or a group of musicians will surface who re-define the way people think about the instruments they play and the sounds they make with them. At the forefront of the Bay Area’s diverse musical architecture emerges the 4ONEFUNK BAND, armed with the soundtrack for a musical revolution.

4ONEFUNK’S innovative approach to combining turntablism with Funk, Soul, and Jazz has earned them worldwide recognition. Now there is a new project which bridges the gap between the vintage tones of the past and the futuristic sounds of the present, to create a multi-dimensional musical experience that exists without the construct of time. The current lineup showcases not only their unique sound, but the newest addition to their band, The Vestax Controller One turntable. The Controller One is the world’s first turntable designed and engineered to be used as a musical instrument. 4ONEFUNK’s own Teeko, alongside D-Styles, Ricci Rucker, and Mike Boo collaborated in the development of this revolutionary new instrument. Perhaps the world’s first band to incorporate two Controller One turntables into their ensemble alongside acoustic and digital drums, synthesizers, samplers, and plenty analog and digital FX-they are working to re-invent the way turntables can be played and interact live as an instrument. Combining the soulful stabs of DJ’s Max Kane and Teeko with the world-class slaps of Pdub, and the futuristic-funk sounds of Colin Brown on the keys, The 4ONEFUNK BAND create timeless funky illustrations for a new chapter of musical history.
The 4ONEFUNK BAND is comprised of Colin Brown on Keys/Synth, PDub on Drums/Sampler, Teeko on Controller One/MPC, and Max Kane on Controller One/Vocoder.
4ONEFUNK has shared the stage with The Charlie Hunter Quartet.The John Scofield Trio. Karl Denson.Vinyl.Gang Starr.Heiroglyphics.Lyrics Born.Crown City Rockers.Breakestra. DJ Q-Bert and D-Styles to name a few, and also play host to SF’s infamous Four One Funktion monthly party. 2008 has much in store for 4ONEFUNK, including a showcase at The Monterey Jazz Festival, and a full-length album currently in production.
